Today’s post is one that I snagged from For the Love of Books! It was really fun, give it a try if you haven’t already done this tag!
1.) How many books are too many books in a series?
This is a hard question, because sometimes a series just drags and drags and should have ended (looking at you, Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars), but there are some where I wanted more more more (ahem, Six of Crows and Finnikin of the Rock). In general, I think 4 is a good number. But there are always series like Throne of Glass and Mortal Instruments that manage to stay interesting even well past that.
2.) How do you feel about cliffhangers?
If I already have the next book, I love them! If I don’t, they frustrate me but eventually I move past frustration into being excited about the next book. So I guess I do like them.
3.) Hardback or paperback?
I like the look of hardback, but the portability of paperback. Paperback is usually a lot cheaper, too.
4.) Favorite book?
This is a ridiculous question. I have way too many favorite books to pick just one. In general, I adore Katie Cotugno, Michelle Hodkin, Stephanie Perkins, Jenn Bennett, and Sarah J. Maas. I will read literally anything these women write.
5.) Least favorite book?
Also ridiculous. There are too many books I dislike to pick the worst. I had to read a lot of Faulkner in school though, and I never cared for him.
6.) Love triangles, yes or no?
I actually really like them. Are they unrealistic? Sure, usually. Do they make for more swoony moments and give you someone to root for? Almost always.
7.) The most recent book you just couldn’t finish?
I quit books ALL.THE.TIME. There are too many awesome books to read ones that aren’t. The most recent was Prince in Disguise, but I’m thisclose to quitting No Filter and Reign of the Fallen. I was super excited about them both and they’re not bad, but neither is grabbing me.
8.) A book you’re currently reading?
City of Bones, by Cassandra Clare. Only about ten years late to the game on this one.
9.) Last book you recommended to someone?
Starry Eyes! Jenn Bennett is a queen, and I loved this book to pieces.
10.) Oldest book you’ve read (Publication Date)?
My AP English class was basically Shakespeare 101, so technically I’m sure it’s one of his. For fun though, probably Wuthering Heights. I don’t read a lot of the classics on my own.
11.) Newest book you’ve read (Publication Date)?
I’m working on Hiding Lies, by Julie Cross, for a blog tour. It was released April 17, 2018.
12.) Favorite author?
Katie Cotugno, I can’t get enough of her books.
13.) Buying books or borrowing books?
Buy. I’m at the bookstore almost every week, and on the days in between I’m on Amazon. Shameful.
14.) A book you dislike that everyone else seems to love?
A Semi-Definitive List of Worst Nightmares, by Krystal Sutherland. I just couldn’t get into it.
15.) Bookmarks or dog-ears?
I always dog-eared as a kid but NEVER anymore. I usually use a scrap torn from a magazine cover.
16.) A book you can always re-read?
Any of Harry Potter on audio. Jim Dale’s voice is so comforting.
17.) Can you read while hearing music?
Yes. I can even watch tv while reading. It’s like two different parts of my brain process them.
18.) One POV or Multiple POVs? (Points of View)
The more the merrier!
19.) Do you read a book in one sitting or over multiple days?
Usually multiple days, but if I’m left alone I can fly through.
20.) A book you’ve read because of the cover?
So many…half of the books I pick up are because they have a beautiful cover.
