Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Well, if it seems like I haven’t done a Top Ten Tuesday in forever, it’s because I haven’t done a Top Ten Tuesday in forever. The topics haven’t been speaking to me lately, so I’ve been skipping the ones I’m not excited about. This week, though, I have plenty to say about!

This week’s topic: Backlist Books I Want to Read. There are so many books on my TBR that it could probably cross the country, so in the interest of making this list a little easier for me to put together, here are the backlist books that I already physically own, have on my bookshelves right now, that I want to read.

1. The Scorpio Races, Maggie Stiefvater. I have had this book approximately forever, and there’s really no reason for me not to have read it yet. I’ve loved both The Wolves of Mercy Falls AND The Raven Cycle, AND this book sounds amazing and has awesome reviews, so what is my problem exactly? WHO KNOWS??

2.  Carry On, Rainbow Rowell. Rainbow’s book Fangirl featured fanfiction pieces based on a fictional Harry Potter-type fantasy series. What makes Carry On so cool is that the author went back and actually wrote the Harry Potter-type fantasy book. There’s only one for now, but a second is in the works!

3. Summer Days and Summer Nights, edited by Stephanie Perkins. I adored My True Love Gave to Me and I could not wait for the summer anthology to come out, so what is wrong with me that I haven’t read this yet?

4. We Are the Ants, Shaun David Hutchinson. I’ve had this since it came out a few years ago, can’t wait to read it, yet never pick it up when I’m looking for a new book to read.

5. Faking Normal, Courtney C Stevens. Despite loving both The Lies About Truth and her upcoming Four Three Two One, I haven’t read this one yet even though it looks so good and I’m pretty much always in the mood for a good contemporary.

6. Horrorstor, Grady Hendrix. My Best Friend’s Exorcism was such a fun book, especially if you had the paperback and could look at all the fun 80’s stuff on it. But Horrorstor? When you first get Horrorstor, it looks like a catalogue. The store is meant to resemble an IKEA, and the pages of the book really do look catalogue pages as well. I don’t know much more about it except that it’s pegged as a traditional haunted house story in a thoroughly contemporary setting. I always mean to read it in October, but it has been out for four Octobers now and I have forgotten every year.

7. Storm, Brigid Kemmerer. I’ve been a huge fan of Brigid’s contemporaries for a long time, and I decided awhile ago I should try out her paranormal series. I have the first book in the series, but of course haven’t read it yet.

8. The Bone Season, Samantha Shannon. This series scares me because the books are long and the synopsis of the first one honestly confuses me a little, but I still own book one and want to read it.

9. Girl in the Blue Coat, Monica Hesse. I’ve read a lot of Holocaust and World War II fiction, but somehow haven’t gotten to this one yet even though I’ve owned it for years.

10. A Madness So Discreet, Mindy McGinnis. I love a Mindy book. I love how many genres she writes in. So why have I not yet read this historical fiction thriller? What is wrong with me?
