Taylor Swift Lover Book Tag-My First Original!

Okay I definitely didn’t come up with the idea of this tag. But after listening to Lover on repeat since it came out a month ago, I’ve read a BUNCH of blog tags and none of them felt quite right to me. They were all great, and I enjoyed reading every one of them, but none of them spoke to me the way the music did.

So I sort of…created my own? I didn’t set out to, initially I just planned on combining a few different tags and making my own graphics, but as soon as I got into it I realized I was actually making up my own questions as well, so…here we are. My first book tag, based on the idea of others so is it really mine? Anyway, if you use my graphics or my tag, please just link back so I can read your answers too! I’m dying to see if anyone else does this.

Ninth House, by Leigh Bardugo
I know everyone in the world is waiting on this one, and I hope it lives up to your expectations, truly. But I just couldn’t get into it. I read 100 pages and was still super confused and super uninvested in what was going on. So I don’t think I’ll be picking it up again, hyped as it may be.

Tweet Cute, by Emma Lord
This one comes out in January, and guys, it is so, so, so good. Pepper and Jack are the most pure of star-crossed lovers, but Pepper is literally forbidden from seeing Jack. I can’t wait until you all get to read this one!

Froi & Quintana from The Lumatare Chronicles by Melina Marchetta. There are plenty of OTPs to choose from, but these two go through such massive character growth and I adore them.

Girls with Sharp Sticks, by Suzanne Young
This quiet little sci-fi dystopian is such a sleeper girl power anthem in disguise that you almost don’t see coming. Almost.

The Last Thing You Said, by Sara Biren
This one is sad, y’all. Lucy and Ben were just about to get together when his sister, and Lucy’s best friend, died. There’s still so much grief the next summer, and while it makes Lucy sad, it makes Ben an ass and ugh it’s hard.

Serpent & Dove, by Shelby Mahurin
Lou is a DELIGHT, completely confident in herself and the way she holds herself, the way she talks to Reid and all the other men surrounding her, is nothing less than perfection.

Match Me If You Can, by Tiana Smith
This wasn’t my favorite, but it was FULL of high school angst.

Have a Little Faith In Me, by Sonia Hartl
One of my favorites of 2019, Paul is the BFF we all need, and if you haven’t read this sex-positive, consent heavy masterpiece yet what are you even doing with your life.

Technically, You Started It, by Lana Wood Johnson
This whole book hinges on mistaken identity and a misunderstanding about who the main character thinks she’s actually talking to via text the ENTIRE TIME, and it is SO GOOD.

A lot of people apparently don’t like this style, but it’s actually my favorite. The best ones keep you completely invested in both timelines, like in Katie Cotugno’s How to Love, while others show up with a twist you weren’t expecting partway through, like Once and for All, by Sarah Dessen (not my favorite of Dessen’s work, but I thought the MC was super jaded because of the way an ex treated her in the past, and that is NOT AT ALL WHAT HAPPENED WOW).

Come on. Obviously, Prince Henry George Edward James Fox-Mountchristen-Windsor from Red, White and Royal Blue, by Casey McQuiston.

I’ve listened to this song exactly once because it hits way too close to home, and I sobbed through it. I will never listen to it again even though I love and adore Taylor. I have similarly read Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson exactly once and will never read it again even though I love and adore Morgan. This one also hit really close to home and also TOO SAD.

The Best Laid Plans, by Cameron Lund. This one doesn’t come out until April, and I know this won’t make sense right now, but my god it has the sexiest mostly-clothed bathtub scene you’ll ever read.

What does the best LGBTQA rep even mean? To me, it means something like The Fever King, by Victoria Lee. The author has confirmed that even when it’s not expressly stated in the book, every single character is queer. And I love it. There are SO many books where every character is straight and it’s just so unrealistic and non-inclusive. Having a book where every character is queer but that’s not even what the book is ABOUT? Amazing.

Say You Still Love Me, by K.A. Tucker
Welcome to my worst nightmare, my biggest and most exact fear, running into someone who was really meaningful to me, who I still think about, and they don’t even remember my name.

There are a lot of squads I love, but the one I’ll always choose is from The Start of Me and You, by Emery Lord. I want to join Paige, Tessa, Morgan and Kayleigh’s group, just like Max and Ryan did with absolutely zero drama.
