Release Day Reviews-Two of ‘Em

There are TWO amazing new books out in the world today that I just *have* to stop tell you about!

A Better Bad Idea, by Laurie Devore
Goodreads ¦ Amazon
Series?: No
Publisher:  Imprint
Release Date: March 16, 2021
Length: 352 pages
Source: ARC
Format: E-book
Times Read: Once
Rating: 5/5

It felt like I was waiting years for another Laurie Devore book, and it has indeed been THREE YEARS since Winner Take All was published.

Reader, it was worth the wait.

Told back and forth between Reid and Evelyn, then and now, the main characters are just as prickly and jaded as the author’s other MCs, something you can count on from Laurie. They are what many people like to call “unlikeable,” because it’s easy to dismiss girls when they don’t fall in line. But that is just…well, that is just so much bullshit. We don’t ask boys to always be likeable; we give them the space to be bad with a secret good heart, we let them change and grow. I mean, find me someone who has called a boy “unlikeable” before.

For more on this subject, Laurie herself wrote a piece on The Mary Sue that y’all should really check out.

This me- this is a girl I could love.”

Five Ways To Fall Out of Love, by Emily Martin

Length: 352 pages

Mini Review: Readers, we have not had a new Emily book since 2016! The Year We Fell Apart is one of my favorites, so I have always kept an eye on the author and waited, and waited, and waited…

Reader, it was worth the wait.

There are great characters, a story I didn’t expect, and the most adorable meet-cute. And just look at the cover. It’s so good. The font, the colors, the illustrations–it all works. This is one to buy.

“I’m told I make a second great impression.”

I CANNOT FOR THE LIFE OF ME GET THE FIRST IMAGE TO SIZE CORRECTLY I GIVE UP SORRY EVERYONE
